I know Evel didn't want to be referred to as a hero, but as a kid in the 70's Evel was definately my idol. When he talked about not using drugs I listened. His words meant a lot to me. I would have to say he inspired many people just as myself to do the right thing.
One definition of "hero" is a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. I, personally, think Evel fits that description.
I had the pleasure to meet and ride with him about 3 years ago and I would have to say I was a kid again. It was one of the highlights of my life.
